TCOP members met in Chisinau, Moldova

At the fourth plenary meeting of PEMPAL Treasury Community of Practice (TCOP) the representatives of the ministries of finance and treasuries of 14 countries exchanged the most recent experiences in applying information technologies for treasury operations. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Moldova between May 18 - 20, 2010, in Chisinau, Moldova.



The approach of PEMPAL TCOP is to focus its activities on the issues of high professional interest for its members. TCOP member countries are at different stages of reforming their public finance management systems. One of important directions of reforms in the majority of countries is treasury modernization on the basis of introduction of modern financial management information systems.


In his welcome speech Mr. Veaceslav Negruta, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Moldova, expressed his gratitude to the TCOP members for participating at the workshop and stressed the usefulness of such lively discussions among public finance practitioners. The first day of the workshop was devoted to the overview of the most recent member countries experiences of implementation of Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS). This was followed by a discussion on the issues related to the use of electronic payment systems and digital signature application in treasury operations. On the last day  the TCoP leadership group met and discussed TCoP activity plan for the rest of 2010.
