Sustainability is becoming central to government strategies, public service delivery, and accountability frameworks, increasing the demand for credible evidence on results and resilience. Public sector internal audit functions can add value by providing assurance and advisory support on governance, risk management, control systems, and reporting related to sustainability priorities (environmental, social, and governance).

This virtual conference will:

• Announce the launch of the PEMPAL Sustainability Auditing Guide, developed jointly with the CIGAR Network.
• Present a first-of-its-kind, globally available guide tailored to public sector internal auditors, offering practical tools, templates, and examples to support audit planning, execution, and reporting.
• Discuss how to integrate sustainability as a cross-cutting theme within existing audit engagements (financial, compliance, and performance), and when to consider stand-alone sustainability audits.
