On September 20, 2024, a Smart Interactive Talk (SIT) is planned on the Practical Advice on Implementing the IIA’s new Global Internal Audit Standards in the public sector context.
The new Global Internal Audit Standards consist of five key domains. During this SIT, the plan is to advance Domains I, II, and III, with Domains IV and V to be addressed during a subsequent SIT. The first domain of the IIA’s new Global Internal Audit Standards, “Purpose of Internal Auditing,” focuses on defining the role and objectives of internal audit within an organization. The second domain, “Ethics and Professionalism,” outlines the ethical principles and professional conduct required of internal auditors. The third domain, “Governing the Internal Audit Function,” emphasizes the structures and processes necessary for effectively overseeing and authorizing the internal audit function. The SIT will begin with a concise explanation of each domain by a global expert, followed by contributions from PEMPAL members, who will share their countries’ practices in implementing the new requirements set by the new Global Internal Audit Standards. Participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts, discuss existing challenges, highlight good practices, ask questions, and express their views. Additionally, the SIT will examine how PEMPAL IACOP can contribute to implementation of the new Global Internal Audit Standards in a well-organized and structured manner.
