On November 4-6, 2024, PEMPAL Treasury Community of Practice (TCOP) held a thematic event on Strengthening and Measuring Treasury Performance in Cash Management and Forecasting in Tirana, Albania. 58 representatives of finance ministries and national treasuries from 17 PEMPAL countries participated in the event. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the approaches to improving and measuring cash management and cash forecasting performance. The meeting was opened by the Minister of Finance of Albania, Mr. Petrit Malaj, Mr. Philipp Arnold, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Switzerland to Albania, and Mr. Hubert Perr, Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation in Tirana, who stressed the high relevance of the sound PFM practices to meeting developmental objectives and the impact of PEMPAL program that helps the ministries of finance in ECA countries to learn from each other and meet new challenges in the dynamic economic environment. The presentations by the host institution, the Treasury Directorate General of the Ministry of Finance of Albania, on its recent modernization efforts and reform plans set the stage for thematic discussions. The meeting also provided an opportunity for all the participants to exchange the latest information on relevant developments in their countries. The event was facilitated by the World Bank team.
