The second workshop of TCOP thematic group on the Use of Information Technologies in Treasury Operations brought together 38 practitioners from 10 PEMPAL member countries, 4 World Bank experts and PEMPAL Secretariat staff.

The first meeting of this thematic group was conducted in November 2013 in Ankara, Turkey. Between the face-to-face meetings group members regularly met on videoconference meetings. The thematic group continued its program with a workshop in Minsk where the main objective was to offer an opportunity to its members to deepen their knowledge on selected aspects of Finance Management Information Systems (FMIS) projects implementation. The workshop began with opening speeches of Mr. Maksim Ermolovich, Deputy Minister of Finance of Belarus; Mr. Vugar Abdullayev, Deputy Director of State Treasury Agency of Azerbaijan and recently elected TCOP chair; and Ms. Elena Nikulina, PEMPAL Team Leader.
The first day of the workshop was devoted to presentations on progress achieved in PFM and information systems of Belarus, whereas the second day focused on experts’ and PEMPAL members’ presentations and selected implementation issues. The World Bank expert, Mr. Cem Dener, presented the global FMIS implementation experience, while Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russian Federation highlighted their current and past challenges in the area of treasury information systems. The third day was devoted to group discussion reports and debated on opportunities for collaboration with the global FMIS COP, led by Cem Dener and supported by the World Bank, and how this could help to implement the group’s activity plan. The final group work presentations can be reached here.
